3. R&D Pt2: Design / Development

£35.00

Day: Thursday - Date: 11th Jun - Time: 6-9pm

Piling up sketches - Exploring design: 2D

Pushing idea through variation.

Description:

This workshop offers an introduction to the creative process, emphasising research as the bedrock for growth and learning. It highlights how a dimensional narrative can enrich your practice and unlock greater storytelling potential. The course explores how designers and artists draw inspiration from their surroundings, transforming anything into a catalyst for creation. You'll learn to integrate both physical (literal) and emotional (interpretive) referencing into your work, focusing on how detail, colour, texture, shape, and storytelling can be expertly incorporated to enhance aesthetic, philosophical, and narrative depth.

Topics Covered:

  • Meaningful Reference Archive: Developing a robust research and referencing system.

  • Development & Communication Skills: Articulating your ideas effectively.

  • Sourcing & Palette: Curating inspiration and translating it into visual and conceptual frameworks.

  • 2D - 3D Testing: Exploring techniques to manifest ideas from two-dimensional resources into three-dimensional outcomes.

  • Typology Manifesto: Defining your creative identity and approach.

  • Gifts of Labor: Reconsidering the value and impact of your creative endeavours.
